Things to consider before digitalising your business

There are still businesses that are still using paper records in their day to day business activities. While digitizing may seem to be an easy solution, the lack of time, technology and knowledge will be the biggest challenges that the organization will face while trying to adapt to technological changes.

While physical copy may seem more credible especially for generations who grew up in a non-digital world, forcing a purely digital solution into an organization may not be the best way to step up the game.

  1. Internal teams need to skill up
You have to consider the skill set of your internal teams such as IT, sales and marketing, human resources, operation and so forth. Usually, when a company started to digitalize internal business management, it will take a lot of time to learn and master the use of the software. Employees have to attend courses or even get a digital certificate to ensure the level of understanding to fully utilize the function. If not done right,

  2. Research on your competition
In every organization, it is only important if you know what the other businesses whether is your direct or indirect competition does. Your competitor may be using the technology that is in their own unique ways and it is crucial if they are doing it right. Understand your business objectives and list out what are does that could be further improved. Then, you will be able to analyze how your competitor operates and utilizes technology, finding out where and when to start your digital transformation. After you are armed with all of this information, it is just in a matter of time that you could match or even surpass your competitors.

  3. Know your audiences
While digitalizing your organization is a great idea, you should also not forget to track the changes in your industry. Maintain the relationship with your clients or customers to know their purchasing habits and behaviour for example:
    – What are they looking for?
    – How are they getting it?
    – What is preventing them from doing business with you?

Conclusion
Always be aware of your environment, competitors, customers and innovations in technology especially those who will have a direct impact on your industry. Compare all of the strengths and weaknesses with and without the technological solutions that you will be introducing into your organization. Go digital and prepare your business for the better.
